My work deals with the current conflict in Iraq. I work with data that I have collected throughout the course of this conflict. Whether it is our former president’s speeches or statistics released by the pentagon, my goal is to present the viewer with my version of what that information actually means.
I create systems in which each color, number, and placement represents a particular idea. Whether it's referencing a rosary or musical notes each one represents the compilation of information, a restructured form that I have created to reinterpret the data I have encountered during my investigation.
The materials I am utilizing are ephemeral in their nature, not unlike politics and our vacilatory opinions about the state of affairs. This work is based on facts, and, just as crucial, on the lack of them.






For this project I took Presidents Bush "Mission Accomplished" speech, and determined the musical notation on the tone of his voice. I utilized midi samples of explosions, gunshots, helicopters and breathing (similar to what can be heard in the ARMY shooter video game) to create this piece.

The smaller pieces were tests leading up to the large white installation. By making the smaller versions, based on pieces i had done in the past, I set out to resolve a lot of issues within the pieces, before I took on the HUGE task of making a full wall installation.

The title of this piece is "2,476 casualties (tittle subject to change as casualty #'s increase)."

“Boy Paintings”,
I was a painter when I got to grad school. I don't really paint at all these days. I'm not ruling it out but i dont see myelf doing it any time soon.
This is what i was working on when i got to graduate school. These are my “boys”, my best friends, and confidants. Upon getting to grad school I realized I wanted to make work that was about something other than myself.
